updated CSS white-space property tests

Filed under: CSS — see @ 6:01 pm

An embarrassing typo on the CSS white-space property test page (thanks Joel!) made me redo the whole page. I added tests for IE 5.01 and redid all tests on the browsers I currently have accesss to which are IE 5.01, 5.5, 6, 7, Opera 8.5 and Firefox 2.0.0.1. I still don’t really get how white-space: pre-line actually should look like but the others are clear now and hopefully my findings are correct now.

If you have different results or results for other browsers (Safari anyone?) please let me know.

Funny enough, I did not really DC Comics (I prefer Marvel). But Green Lantern was actually the one I was eager to swap with ;)

Arg! Spaaaaam…

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:33 pm

I upgraded this blog’s WordPress version to the newest 2.07 but somehow managed to put the Akismet spam filter in the wrong folder. So in just some hours I had over 20 spam comments…

Should be fixed now, although I spam (mainly email spam) is getting more aggressive again for some months now, also compared to the situation about 2 years ago after which it got a bit better. There was an interesting article in german c’t magazine, seems emails will not be usable at all soon. From the 20-30 mails I get to my personal email about 99% is spam already, that is not counting the (about 50-100) spam mails that are sorted out by the email programs spamfilter…

cssutils 0.9.1 beta 3

After some requests by James which were really helpful I put some more functionality regarding keeping properties with same names when serializing in a CSSStyleSheet. I also found some bugs while putting more tests together and actually reactivated CSSCapture which I adapted some weeks ago but never really put together. So quite a few changes in just some days but I hope it’s worth the time spent…

BTW I never really know if to delete older versions of cssutils in the python cheeseshop… I just noticed download counts of e.g. 0.9a6 or 0.9.1b1 were still rising even after weeks putting 0.9.1b2 online. So I actually removed b1 and b2 now but let 0.9a6 online as it has a Python 2.4 egg. On the other hand that version is actually quite old (months ;) and could be removed too I guess.

It also seems downloads of the source (zip more than tar) and binary (egg) versions are requested about the same amount. The additional download figures from my own (this) site show roughly the same.

cssutils 0.9.1 beta 2

Filed under: cssutils — see @ 11:57 pm

Today I uploaded beta2 of cssutils 0.9.1. Some minor bugfixes and a small feature which actually was one reason why I started cssutils in the first place. Cssutils now is able to serialize Stylesheets which use Properties with similar names like color and c\olor. This did of course work before but only the last valid value was serialized, now all values may be reserialized. As I started cssutils as a pretty printer this is almost a must as if not any crossbrowser hacks using the above techniques (backslash hack) are lost after reserializing…

I guess there are still quite a few problems here but I think all hacks I currently use should work. But I guess as nothing works without a test and I did not test this properly (I will for 0.9.1 final) it does not work ;) Anyway, a good start I hope…
